ALC help on the Farm

The learners at the ALC have shown resilience by improving their behavioural control, especially when frustrated. Their parents have worked tremendously hard to aid their school performance, explaining that only they can control their mind and behaviour. Instead of destroying their work they are more able to stop and at times say aloud “I’m controlling myself” when feeling levels of frustration rise. They are more able to control impulsive behaviours, asking before doing things. By asking, they have shown increased levels of maturity, this has opened new opportunities for them including getting the chance to help out on the farm. They have been granted permission to feed the animals, lead them to their respective pens and tend to their needs. While this has helped the animals, it has been a particularly magical experience for them, allowing them to be up close with the animals – most of all Storm, the horse they adore.
