This week in English Yellow have been exploring the use of poetry and short stories. The class were asked to identify the features of a poem and then plan and create a poem of their own, relating to a subject that was significant to them. After initially struggling, Callum produced a fantastic poem about Newcastle United and was put forward to be published, as well as several others in the group also producing pieces to be published. It was fantastic to see Callum engaged in a subject that he related to football as it means so much to him and showed his talent for remembering information and creativeness for the subject. The class showed great resilience throughout the week to eventually understand the structure of a poem, and then use it to produce their own piece on something that was important to them.
