Challenges

Due to a variety of complex needs, the learners in the ALC are on bespoke curriculums, devised to encourage learning and to tap into their strengths and interests. So every day can be a challenge!
However, during these unprecedented times of social distancing, self-isolation and lock-downs the daily challenge has exacerbated but the learners in the ALC have risen to the occasion continuing to participate in the numerous activities and tasks offered. To spur us all on, mentally and physically, we have enjoyed making cakes and pizzas, developed basketball skills such as dribbling as well as setting physical challenges to keep active, constructed dioramas of favourite film scenes, predicted Science experiment outcomes, such as ‘can an egg float?’, engaged with the animals at various sites(horses, birds of prey, goats and chickens)despite the cold and snow: all underpinned by numeracy and literacy criteria as well as social and emotional edicts.
As a result the learners at the ALC have consistently attended and accessed a learning journey despite the obstacles and frustrations placed in their way.
