Developing Resilience Through Success

Two of Trinity’s outreach learners have been demonstrating tremendous resilience over the last term and showing lots of progress as a result of their hard work and perseverance, particularly when tasks have been new, challenging, and required lots of concentration. Both learners have developed socially and academically and should be really proud of themselves.

In Maths, both learners worked really hard the last term to learn lots of new skills before an important assessment. This was daunting at first and made them nervous. They have shown determination and great spirit since September, not only in learning new and challenging skills but also in using feedback to improve their knowledge afterwards, like the picture below.

In English, learners have been working extremely hard on spelling and constructing complex sentences which have not always been easy. As part of the GCSE curriculum, our Year 10 learner has been exploring themes such as trauma and conspiracy theories within the literature. At first, this was difficult as there were lots of new writing styles, techniques and features to understand but after working hard every lesson (even when he felt like giving up!), analysing and writing about these types of literature became easier and he has really developed his creative writing abilities. Working on such a fascinating topic has made it really enjoyable overall, and here’s an example of a lesson on conspiracy theory literature to prove it!

In other subjects, both students have been developing essential life skills such as telling the time accurately, using money and applying these skills to real-life situations. These skills will set our learners up for life in the community as valued members of society and will assist them as they reintegrate into a classroom.
