Learners from the Acorn Learning Centre show Resilience

One of our learners in the Acorn Learning Centre has been showing great progress during his sessions at Riverside Falconry. They have been learning how to handle birds of prey, managing birds’ unsettled behaviour and looking after their general wellbeing. Our learner started from the beginning, having had no experience with birds of prey and has achieved so much – well done!
Last term involved developing many skills and abilities including resilience and perseverance. These were needed especially when tasks were difficult and when lots of new information about each bird and their welfare was being processed. These birds belong to Riverside Falconry and looking after them is essential. Our learner did extraordinarily well and was able to talk about how certain tasks were difficult and how they were going to overcome them.
Over time our learner has progressed from feeding to handling and flying multiple birds – from small owls to a large Golden Eagle! We are also very proud that our learner has also created his own art project to decorate one of the birds’ enclosures which will a benefit to the falconry business.
