What Have We Been Doing?
Last Term, Purple group all sat initial assessments for functional skills reading and writing exams - we even got some nice surprises! These functional skills tests will enable them to sit exams and gain qualifications, well before their GCSE's in 2021. We've looked at animal testing and have written articles that were pro or anti-animal testing. Built-up our vocabulary skills and debated on the subject.
What Are We Doing Now?
Currently, purple are working on their first GCSE module. Our focus is on gothic literature, studying such texts as Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Dracula and Wuthering Heights. Abby and Jordan wrote incredible horror stories that included typical gothic conventions. Over the next few weeks, we will develop our descriptive and narrative writing, delve deep into the language of the Victorian writers and analyse their choices, and finally connect the common themes in the literature to writers intents and influences.
What We Will Be Doing?
Before Christmas, we will be booking in functional skills exams for all of our purple learners in both reading and writing. We have started the process of enrolling learners, arranging support and the learners seem to be very excited about achieving their qualification!
