Celebrating Communication Between School Leaders

Last week our Key Stage 4 school council members held a meeting via teams, with Mr Flint, the Executive Head of School. Although a little nervous, council members asked Mr Flint hard-hitting questions and some more light-hearted ones. The council members enjoyed talking to Mr Flint and agreed with the answers to their questions.
The councillors inquired about Ellie, Mr Flint’s beloved dog (top of her head is pictured.) as well as why Mr Flint wanted to become a teacher and how he felt current circumstances had affected the GCSE’s.
Mr Flint asked why the councillors wanted to become part of the school council and their responses evidence, the school leaders, the school council members truly are:
Kian – ‘It has always been my ambition to be part of the school council ever since primary school and now I
am part of it!’
Lita – ‘When I was asked to join [school council] last time I said no because I was scared and wasn’t good at talking so this year when I was asked I said yes so I could speak for those like me who couldn’t speak up.’
Mr Flint praised all the council members for the hard work and continuous contribution highlights of which include:
- Designing the year 11 leavers hoodies which is currently available to order
- Training anti-bullying ambassadors who are in school council to tackle bullying in school and online
- Creating a student anti-bullying policy
- Being the student voice for Trinity Oakfield to implement change
Mr Flint said he always looked forward to reading the school council minutes every week and hearing the ideas that councillors come up with. Although nervous at first, the key stage 4 school council members felt that the meeting was productive and would love to invite Mr Flint to another meeting again soon and he happily accepted.
