Trinity School Council Clean Up
As part of Trinity Upper Sites School Council project – Learn to Grown, Remember to Clean, Achieve a Healthier Lifestyle, a group of learners, including school council members visited a local beach to embark on a litter pick.
As we all know pollution in our seas and oceans should be a concern to everyone. The earth belongs to each and every one of us and how we treat it will affect us in the future. Plastic can take up to 450 years to break down and 14 million tons of plastic end up in the ocean every year! Trinity Academy School Council thinks this is shocking and something, even if it is only a small thing needs to be done. The councillors decided to devise an eco-project, which is supported by the school governors. A part of this project involved a beach clean-up, which councillors named ‘Sorting out the Seas’
Every member of the team worked really hard to pick up as much litter as they could throughout the day and ended up filling a surprising amount of rubbish bags with items like takeaway boxes, sweet wrappers, bottle tops and even socks!
A fantastic effort from the team and school council members to clean up a local beach and reduce the amount of plastic entering our seas.
