Learners Build Herb Planters for Trauma-Informed Spaces

At Trinity Academy Newcastle, learning goes beyond the classroom. Recently, our learners took part in a Preparation for Adulthood lesson, where they worked together to build herb planters—an initiative that blended teamwork, practical skills, and a sense of accomplishment.
Working in groups, the learners successfully constructed four herb planters, demonstrating their ability to follow instructions, use tools such as screwdrivers and drills, and collaborate effectively. Throughout the process, they took immense pride in their work, gaining hands-on experience that will support their independence and confidence in the future.
These planters will form an integral part of the Trauma-Informed spaces we are creating across the school. By incorporating elements of nature into our environment, we aim to provide calm, nurturing areas that support emotional well-being and encourage positive interactions.
This project not only equipped learners with valuable practical skills but also fostered a sense of achievement and contribution to their school community. At Trinity Academy Newcastle, we continue to find meaningful ways to prepare our young people for the future while creating a supportive and enriching learning environment.
