Keeping safe in the sun

Orange group have been learning about energy and energy transfer in Science. This week we looked at the three ways that heat energy can be transferred.

We learnt about conduction, convection and radiation. The learners were able to use radiation from the sun to light a fire. Whilst it’s a fun activity there’s an important message to remember, even here in the North East the sun’s radiation can be hot enough to start a fire. Always take any glass bottles home with us as an empty bottle can start a fire on a sunny day.
