Exploring the Woodlands

Our learners were exploring the woodlands at Forest School and came across some wild garlic. The learners enjoyed using some of their senses by smelling, touching and tasting the garlic. The following week we decided to introduce the wild garlic to our outdoor cooking sessions.

Our learners picked and washed the wild garlic, mashed it in to some butter and then they cut open a baguette and added the garlic butter. Wrapped up in tin foil we cooked the garlic baguette on an open fire. The aroma around us was amazing and the taste was delicious. Some of our learners have anxiety around trying new things to eat, so for them to be able to pick, prepare, cook, and eat food that they have made themselves is such an achievement. Well done!
