Riverside Falconry

At the riverside falconry, our learner has been showing great resilience whilst embodying our schools' parenting ethos by clearing out an allotment. Whilst it may at first, seem strange that a ‘bit of gardening’ requires resilience, I would like to direct you to the scene that met our learner when they first faced the task.

This workload could have easily been overwhelming to our learner and for a moment it was, however, the learner was able to regain their motivation and push forward cleaning out the allotment. This activity was a brilliant way of instilling values that prepare our learners for parenthood in their future. For they must be respectful of their environment and put in hard work before they can begin to plant the foundations for future growth. In the future, this will give our learner a chance to take responsibility for another life and see the fruits of their labour in vibrant vegetation. However, if it was so quick and easy there would be no opportunity for resilience to be built. Our learner is just beginning the process of bringing life back into the allotment, but over two mornings of hard work, the task doesn’t appear as daunting.
