Humanities | The River Tyne

In Humanities this term we are learning about Rivers, in Newcastle the River Tyne runs right through our brilliant city. From our Upper site we can actually see the river as it meanders towards the quayside, sometimes we see fog and mist gathering on the Tyne, some of us were familiar with the song Fog on the Tyne by Lindisfarne, which is all about this phenomenon.

We have watched some brilliant TV programmes about the World’s great rivers realising that wherever they are around the world they all have the same geographical features and are formed in the same way.

We constructed models of a river starting at the source, created a waterfall then meandering towards the sea creating an oxbow lake. We used recycled card, paper, glue and paint and worked individually to create a model each.
