Duke of Edinburgh Award | Rock Climbing

A life-changing experience. An opportunity to have fun with friends. A chance to discover new interests and talents. A tool to develop essential skills for life and work. A recognised mark of achievement, respected by employers. The Duke of Edinburgh Award is many things to many people, supporting generations to successfully navigate life.
As part of the silver award, learners need to;
- Volunteering section: 6 months
- Physical and Skills sections: One section for 6 months and the other section for 3 months
- Expedition section: 3 days/2 nights
For the volunteering element, they are helping out at St Oswald’s Hospice charity with sorting donations for their fundraising shops.
The physical and skills section has been covered with mountain biking in the first term and rock-climbing this term.
The expedition in the summer will be on bikes this year, after hiking the previous year.
This is a very rewarding but time consuming challenge and is therefore only possible with their excellent attendance.
