Dragon Day

Introduction:

In the enchanted world of the forest school, the boundaries between reality and imagination blur, creating a space where anything is possible. Here, through child lead imaginative play, children embark on grand adventures, guided by their curiosity and creativity. They work together to solve problems, build confidence, and develop their sense of wonder. Every stick becomes a wand, every tree a towering fortress, and through these playful experiences, children strengthen their social skills, resilience, and ability to think critically—all while connecting with nature. It is in this magical environment that our story begins.

In the heart of the forest school, nestled among ancient oaks and wild brambles, Bogdrill the wizard had been preparing for a grand display of magic. Clad in a robe that shimmered with stars, he carefully traced symbols in the air, summoning a portal that would amaze the children. However, in his enthusiasm, Bogdrill’s magic went a bit awry. The portal crackled with strange energy, growing wider and wilder until—poof!—a friendly dragon stepped through.

The children gasped, half in fear, half in wonder, as the dragon, covered in glittering emerald scales, looked around curiously. Her eyes softened as she noticed them, and she gave a gentle, rumbling hum. This dragon, however, looked distressed, glancing here and there, searching. She was missing something—her eggs!

Bogdrill, flustered but fascinated, quickly introduced himself and asked the children for help. “Friends of the forest, we must find her eggs! They’re gold and heavy, like shiny boulders,” he explained.

With the thrill of adventure racing through them, the children split up, weaving through the trees, inspecting every nook and cranny. Before long, one of the children let out a triumphant call, holding up a golden egg. Together, they carried it gently to the dragon, placing it in her nest. One by one, they found the eggs and returned each one until, at last, the nest was full. The dragon gave a soft roar of gratitude, her eyes shimmering with happiness.

That night, Bogdrill prepared to open a new portal to send the dragon and her eggs home safely. But, in his usual clumsy style, he accidentally created not one large portal, but dozens of tiny, swirling gateways, scattered all around the forest! Each portal glowed with a different color, and through them, strange wisps of the magical realm flickered.

“Oh dear!” Bogdrill muttered, scratching his beard. “I seem to have made a bit of a mess. I’ll need your help once more!”

The children, always up for a challenge, were thrilled. Bogdrill explained the task: to deactivate each portal, they’d need to throw a pine cone through it. Each time a portal closed, it left behind a brightly colored ring. Collecting these rings, the children worked together, their laughter echoing through the trees as they tossed pine cones and gathered magical treasures.

Soon, they had enough rings to assemble a larger portal—only, it needed energy to activate.

“Ah, there’s something magical near the rope swing,” Bogdrill said, joyfully. “It may hold the energy we need!”

The children set off through the woods, pine cones in hand, heading toward the mysterious rope swing. There, they found a swirling, colorful ball of pure magical energy, radiant with wispy tendrils that rose like flames. One of the children, wearing a special glove Bogdrill provided, carefully picked up the glowing energy.

Together, they carried it back to the large portal. With a shared breath of excitement, they threw the energy ball into the portal. It sparked and glowed, lighting up the forest with vibrant colors as the portal sprang to life, shining brightly.

As the dragon stepped through the portal, she paused to nod her thanks, her eggs safely tucked beneath her wing. The children waved goodbye, watching as the dragon disappeared into her world, the portal flickering closed behind her.

Bogdrill let out a long sigh, a mix of relief and pride. “Thanks to you all, the realms are back in balance,” he said with a grin, “and I’ll be a bit more careful with my spells from now on.”

The children, victorious and enchanted by their adventure, returned to the forest school, knowing they’d be ready for whatever magic Bogdrill might bring next.

The End.
