Celebrating our ALC Learners

Celebrating our ALC learners’ successes and personal growth is more important than ever, after an unprecedented year of change and lockdowns. Creating an inclusive culture of celebration underpins the teaching, learning and social achievements in the ALC. This week is a special week in the ALC as one of our learners turns 13. Staff and learners have developed party games that included essential learning and national curriculum objectives to help celebrate this milestone birthday.

We have also included a celebration as part of National Numeracy Day which was on Wednesday 19th May. Staff organised maths-based quizzes and competitions such as adding and subtraction darts. Learners enjoyed playing against staff to add and subtracting scores from 1000 to minus 100 and tackled new mathematical concepts and methods of working. Learners’ persistence, hard work and determination paid off and they were triumphant over staff. Upon reflecting and recognising their learning successes, staff celebrated the day with learners’ parents and carers to let them know how well their children had engaged so that they could continue the celebrations back home.
