Summer Celebration - Beltane
In our forest school, as the temperatures soared to a balmy 22 degrees Celsius, we decided to embrace the warmth and celebrate summer in style. With the sun shining brightly overhead, we knew it was the perfect opportunity to immerse ourselves in outdoor activities while relishing the beauty of nature.
First and foremost, we prioritised staying cool and comfortable under the summer sun. Utilising the natural resources around us, we constructed a cosy shelter using a tarpauling suspended between branches. This rustic refuge provided us with much-needed shade, allowing us to escape the intensity of the sun's rays while still enjoying the outdoor ambience.
With our shelter in place, it was time to unleash our creativity. Armed with vibrant threads and an assortment of beads, we delved into the art of crafting colourful key chains and bracelets. Surrounded by the lush greenery of the forest, we found inspiration in the natural hues and textures that surrounded us, incorporating them into our intricate designs. As we worked on our creations, laughter and camaraderie filled the air, fostering a sense of community and connection among us.
And of course, what's a summer celebration without indulging in some delicious treats? As unconventional as it may seem to some, we decided to embrace the spirit of summer by enjoying pineapple-topped pizzas. With its juicy sweetness complementing the savoury flavours of cheese and tomato sauce, pineapple added a refreshing twist to our culinary experience, perfectly capturing the essence of summertime bliss.
With hearts full of joy and memories to cherish, we reflected on the beauty of our forest school summer celebration, grateful for the simple pleasures of nature and the bonds of friendship that it nurtures.
